Patient Safety
|
Bringing best practices to the beneficiary QIOs in every state and territory, united in a national network administered by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, have the ability to focus health care quality improvement resources and expertise at the community level.
In partnership with South Dakota health care providers, SDFMC is working to ensure care is safer and more affordable. In alignment with the National Quality Strategy, we will work to reduce healthcare-associated infections, healthcare-acquired conditions and to eliminate adverse drug events.
Technical assistance, educational opportunities and resources will be provided. In addition, Learning and Action Networks will be established to ensure community support and involvement. Our efforts will also parallel national initiatives centered on similar goals, such as the Advancing Excellence in America's Nursing Homes Campaign and Partnership for Patients.
SDFMC's Patient Safety activities during the next three years will focus on 1) reducing health care acquired infections, 2) increasing quality reporting by providers, 3) reducing pressure ulcers in nursing homes and 4) reducing adverse drug events.
