Benefits Improvement and Protection Act (BIPA)
Effective July 1, 2005
South Dakota Foundation for Medical Care, the Quality Improvement Organization for South Dakota, has been assigned responsibility of Beneficiary Protection. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has determined that we facilitate beneficiary appeals regarding termination of services in comprehensive outpatient rehabilitation facilities (CORFs), Skilled Nursing Facilities, Hospice and Home Health.
